Karnataka Sex Workers Union didd a protest in the World AIDS Day program organised by KSAPS on 1st December 2010 at Chitrakala Parishad, Bangalore. About 50 activists from sex workers, sexual minorities, people living with HIV and their supporters took part in the protest.
The protesters demanded for to dismissal of KSAPS Joint Director (TI) for her rude and insulting behavior towards people living with HIV, sex workers and sexual minorities. KSAPS has been discriminating the sexual minorities and sex workers and collecting information from them without their consent. The activists protested with black banners, black flags and red umbrellas (International symbol for sex workers). They also distributed leaflets and shouted slogans against KSAPS and its Joint Director.
The demands are:
- Dismissal of KSAPS Joint Director (TI)
- Stop Line Listing
- Stop Forced HIV testing
- Stop breaking the confidentiality of people living with HIV
KSAPS had invited well known film Actress Ms. Pooja Gandhi as the guest for this program. She is very concerned and supportive towards the rights of people living with HIV, sex workers and sexual minorities. We acknowledge and would like to sincerely thank her for that.
